With over 20 new features and more than 300 new enhancements, this release continues to break down the barriers to innovation and help you successfully create your next-generation electronic products. The new summer 09 release provides you with:
- Significant updates to PCB including increased mechanical layers, enhanced display of DRC violations, enhanced net highlighting, plus many more
- Productivity updates to schematic including definition of Net Classes and rules by area, graphical editing of variants
- New on-demand licensing, including the ability to roam, providing your organization with greater licensing flexibility
- Extensions to strengthen the links to live supplier data, including linking to new suppliers, Premier Farnell and Newark
- Support for high-level software development using C++, including full compilation and debugging capabilities
- Connected FPGA scripts, allowing for more powerful script applications to be built
- Plus many more exciting features, all intended to help you get your designs to market faster and more successfully than ever before!

For those who qualify for an automatic upgrade to Summer 09 through software assurance, you can receive your upgrade immediately by visiting the below website and confirming the following details:
- your contact details
- your shipping details
- details of the licenses that are being upgraded
- whether you prefer us to ship the software to you on a disc
To confirm your automatic upgrade go to
https://summer09upgrade.altium.comNote: You will need your Altium Account credentials (previously known as SUPPORTcenter login) to access this account. If you do not know or do not remember your login details, go to the upgrade website and enter your email address on the front page, then click on the "Forgot your password" link. This will reset your password and send you an email with your details.
Upon confirmation, an email will be sent to you providing updated license details and information on how to immediately download and install the new summer 09 release of Altium Designer.
INSTALLING SUMMER 09
The summer 09 release is available only as a complete installation. It is not available via Web Updates.
When installing the new summer 09 release, it will by default install into a new folder on your computer and will not interfere with your existing installation of Altium Designer. So you can continue to use your previous version until you are ready to start discovering the exciting new features within summer 09.
Activation of your license is now also handled in a new way. To obtain your license, you will need to sign in to Altium Designer with your Altium Account credentials. With the summer 09 release comes a new version of the Floating License Server, now called Private License Server. If you are running network licenses, you will be required to upgrade your Altium Designer Floating License Server to access your new summer 09 licenses. The latest version of the Private License Server is delivered with the Altium Designer software, or you can download it separately from Altium's SUPPORTcenter -
